The hidden impact of the energy transition on the drinking water infrastructure

The drinking water infrastructure in urban areas is likely to be affected significantly by the energy transition, that much is clear. Interestingly (en understandably) municipalities take this impact hardly into account when planning the construction of urban heating networks or upgrading of electricity cables. Spatial Insight is mapping the ‘transition visions’ that municipalities have to publish in 2021. Thus we produce nice digital maps, but much more importantly, we create the data needed to calculate the impact in terms of pipe length and euros. Pleased and proud to undertake these calculations for Evides, water utility of the province of Sealand and the city of Rotterdam.
