Counting trees in Tanzania

Spatial Insight is supporting the Justdiggit foundation in bringing back trees and vegetation in East Africa, especially in Tanzania. Justdiggit believes that if water is retained, if trees and shrubs are pruned properly and if livestock graze in a controlled way, trees, shrubs and grasses can grow (again). More trees and vegetation will not only contribute to the climate and soil quality locally, but will also provide more feedstock for the animals of local farmers.

We will help the organization and partners of Justdiggit in Tanzania in digitizing the handwritten logs in which the tree counts are recorded by means of image recognition and we will support in bringing together data from different sources. We apply data science and data integration on a daily basis in our projects for drinking water companies and network operators in the Netherlands.

These activities are Spatial Insight’s contribution to a more sustainable world. We are proud and grateful to be able to support Justdiggit in this way.
